"Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable." – Leonard Bernstein
For as long as I can remember, music has been a major part of my life, from experimenting with the piano as a young child to marching in high school. Music has been something that I had surrounded myself with for as long as I can remember, and this positive influence I have always found in music is something I have always wanted to share with the next generation.
I strive to make whatever space I teach in a safe space for my students. This is something that I have seen in my experience as a student, and something that I want to bring to students in the future. As a preservice music educator, I strive to cultivate a classroom environment where students feel valued, inspired, and safe to express themselves.
My name is Kameron Balcom, and I am a Music Education major on the band track here at SUNY Potsdam. Music has been a positive influence on my life for so long, and I am eager to share that with the next generation.
